PART I - CHAPTER 1 - A PEEK

As we begin, I think it is important to take a look at where Afghanistan has been, where it is, and where most observers think (AND HOPE) Afghanistan is going. WILL IT? Nothing is ever really assured in Afghanistan, but I sure hope so. Like winter 2013-2014, ENOUGH ALREADY.

Here are a couple of interesting looks at then and now.

Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan is at once an interesting blend of ancient, old, and new. At least architecturally. Culturally is a bit harder to define, but it is changing too.

The old, the new, and the seemingly ENDLESS military occupations and currently at least presence.
Both sides are weary of the conflict, both current and ages-old. Maybe one of these days, Afghanistan will find the people, the leaders, AND THE COURAGE to finally SIT DOWN and iron out the differences so ALL SIDES can finally live in peace and mutual respect. Breath I am not holding, but I am an incurable optimist and hoper. LOL
